Dockweiler RV Park Reviews

Our visitors love sharing their memorable beachfront experiences, and their stories reflect the comfort, convenience, and natural beauty that make Dockweiler RV Park a one-of-a-kind destination.

As a pilot who travels constantly and stays in cities across the globe, few places truly feel like a real escape—but Dockweiler RV Park is that rare exception. My wife and I decided to book a front row full-hookup site for a quiet break, and it turned out to be one of our most memorable getaways in years. We arrived in the early afternoon, and as soon as we parked and stepped out, the ocean breeze hit us and we knew we’d found something special. The beach was literally steps away, and the view—clear skies stretching from Malibu all the way to Catalina Island—felt surreal. Every morning, we made coffee and sat out watching the waves roll in. The park's setup made everything easy: full 50-amp power, clean water, and dependable sewer connections. I was especially impressed by the condition of the hookups—clean, well-marked, and clearly maintained by professionals. The evenings were just as magical. We grilled freshly caught fish and vegetables right on the barbecue next to our site, ate by lantern light, and later joined other campers around a beach fire pit. Though I work near LAX, hearing planes overhead didn’t bother me—it felt oddly comforting, like a soft reminder of my other life, while being grounded in this peaceful coastal retreat. The staff were helpful and courteous, giving us local tips and checking in to make sure we were settled. This park doesn’t just offer a place to park your RV—it gives you space to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy one of California’s most beautiful coastlines. We’ve already reserved a return visit for next year.

My husband and I have been RVing for over a decade since retirement, and we’ve stayed at parks in nearly every state—but Dockweiler RV Park has something truly unique. The location alone makes it a standout: nestled right on the shores of Playa Del Rey, it's one of the few places where you can camp steps from the ocean without sacrificing modern comforts. We stayed in one of the dry camper sites with our converted Sprinter van and were amazed by how peaceful the area felt, even with the nearby airport. We’re both early risers, so our days began with coffee and a barefoot stroll along the beach, often before anyone else was up. The view was stunning, and we even spotted dolphins twice. The expanded dry camper area had everything we needed. The new restrooms were impressively clean and warm in the mornings, and the on-site laundry was a game-changer—especially since we were on a three-week road trip and needed to refresh our wardrobe. We spent afternoons biking along the Marvin Braude trail, which conveniently runs right past the campground, and even made it as far as the Santa Monica Pier one day. The evenings were our favorite part. We'd watch the sun set from our picnic table, often enjoying a glass of wine and the sound of waves just yards away. The sense of community at Dockweiler was noticeable; people respected the quiet hours, waved in passing, and we even met two other retired couples with similar travel stories. There’s a rhythm to life here that feels calming and familiar, and for anyone looking for a mix of serenity and accessibility, Dockweiler is hard to beat.

I’ve camped in deserts, forests, and mountaintops for my photography projects, but Dockweiler RV Park offered a completely different canvas—and one I wasn’t expecting to love as much as I did. I originally booked a middle-row full hookup site for convenience while working on a coastal photography series, but it ended up being one of the most productive and visually rich locations I’ve worked in. Every morning, I’d set up my gear by 6 a.m. to catch the sunrise over the Santa Monica Mountains, and in the evenings, I captured some incredible long-exposure shots with airplanes overhead, light trails painting the sky. It’s a rare place where the natural and man-made collide so photogenically. Having a full 50-amp connection meant I could run my editing laptop and charge batteries without worry, and I appreciated the strong water pressure in the showers—something many RV parks skimp on. Beyond the photography, I loved the laid-back vibe of the park. Other campers were respectful and friendly, and we even had a few nights where we shared a fire pit and traded stories and music. The pet-friendly policy was also a plus—I brought my dog, Scout, who had the time of his life running along the shoreline. Staff at the front office were super helpful and seemed genuinely proud of the park. They gave me tips on local shooting spots, including some hidden spots along the jetty that ended up being my favorite part of the trip. Dockweiler RV Park might not be the most remote or wild destination, but for someone who needs modern amenities, direct beach access, and nonstop visual inspiration, it’s absolutely perfect. I extended my stay twice and left with a memory card full of unforgettable moments.
